Hill Station is a neighbourhood in Freetown characterised by large wooden houses, erected on high stilts more than a hundred years ago for British colonial administrators. The houses arrived in West Africa flat-packed from Harrods in London and remain standing today, home to Sierra Leonean civil servants and their extended families.
