Manon & Manu, Chateau du Deffay

I met Manon and Manu in 2012, on the Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu in Peru. They were half way through an 18 month round-the-world adventure, while I was completing my solo trip around South America. We hit it off and a year later a delightful message arrived to my inbox, asking that I fly to France to shoot their fairytale wedding at Chateau du Deffay outside Pornichet. Needless to say I said yes(!!), and so got to indulge my love of travel, romance and documentary wedding photography. I stayed with Manu and Manon in the days leading up to the wedding, watched them practice their first dance, kissed families and friends (twice each) and drank Champagne with the bridal party the night before the big day. The day itself was a beautiful tale of fine wine, real love, endless laughter, food, dancing and more food that ended with sunrise and bread-and-cheese leftovers. This is one of the first weddings I ever photographed, and it remains my favourite, a beautiful mix of friendship, photography and the very best of (northwestern) French hospitality.
